How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team picked up a big win over Berkeley College by a score of 5-1 on Saturday, September 25. Before the game, the Lancaster Bible College Community came together to thank Willis & Martha Herr and officially dedicate the Willis & Martha Herr Stadium as part of the Homecoming Festivities.
Once the game began, the Chargers' offense immediately went to work. In the fifth minute,
Clark Shreiner found space inside the 18-yard box and fired a shot that was deflected by the Knights' goalkeeper. Shreiner would hustle to get his own rebound and found the back to give LBC a 1-0 lead. Later in the half, the Chargers would earn a corner kick giving
Kedric Yoder an opportunity to create some offense. Yoder curled the corner kick around the defense and the ball bounced into the goal, giving the Chargers a 2-0 lead. LBC struck one last time when in the 39
th minute when
Matthew Eufemia raced through Berkeley's defense, creating space for
Devyn Kintzer. Eufemia slid a ball across for Kintzer and he buried his first collegiate goal. The Chargers led 3-0 going into the half.
The Chargers offense continued to roll in the second half. Off a free kick,
Chad Tolson flicked forward a ball to
Clark Shreiner and Shreiner slid the ball past the Knights' goalkeeper to put LBC ahead 4-0. Two minutes later, off another corner kick,
Kedric Yoder served an excellent ball into the box and Shreiner would head in his third goal of the game. Berkeley would score in the 77
th minute, but the Chargers' defense would stifle any further comeback, securing a 5-1 victory.
