Baughman Named Director of Athletics

LANCASTER, Pa. - Lancaster Bible College and the Lancaster Bible College Athletic Department are pleased to announce Rod Baughman has been named Director of Athletics. Baughman has served as the Interim Director of Athletics since April 2021, taking over for long time Director of Athletics Pete Beers after Beers was promoted to Vice President for Traditional Undergraduate Education.

"The past 7 months have only solidified my belief in the amazing team of coaches and staff that God has assembled within the Athletic Department here at Lancaster Bible College.," said Baughman. "Their commitment to excellence on the fields and investment in student-athletes off the courts makes it both a blessing and an inspiration to be a co-laborer on this team. I'm excited about the future of Charger Athletics and grateful to be a part of it!"

Baughman was no stranger to the department having worked as a coach in the athletic department since the 1990s. After graduating from Lebanon Valley College in 1991 with degrees in both accounting and business management, Baughman was LBC's head women's basketball coach from 1993-94 and the head coach of the men's basketball team from 1994-96.

After his time at LBC, Baughman worked for 19 years at Meadowbrook Christian School, a private K-12 school in Milton, Pa. During his time at Meadowbrook, Baughman served as the Director of Student Services and Athletics for eight years and then he served as the Head of the School for eleven years.

Baughman returned to LBC in 2019, working in a new role as the Assistant Athletic Director for Mentorship. Baughman designed programs to help student-athletes grow closer in their relationship with God, while playing a college sport. In addition to his role as an Assistant Athletic Director, Baughman has led the men's & women's tennis teams since July of 2019, helping the men's tennis win the 2021 NEAC Conference Championship and earning a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Baughman was also name NEAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2021.

"I am very excited for both the Athletics staff and the student-athletes to have the opportunity to be influenced by Rod Baughman's leadership," said Vice President Beers. "I believe his passion for fulfilling the mission of both Lancaster Bible College and its Athletics Department will continue to expand the platform of impact. I look forward to seeing God continue to use Rod and his care for others to make a positive impact for His Kingdom."
