How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team rallied to take down Edward Waters by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday, January 11. Edward Waters Athletics started their men's volleyball program this season and this was the program's inaugural game.
The Chargers (2-0 Overall) got off to a slow start in the opening set, hitting .125 with seven kills on 16 attacks. The Tigers (0-1 Overall) came out strong, fired up to be playing in their first ever collegiate game, hitting .562, recording 10 kills on 16 swings. Edward Waters' offensive attack was led by Evens Edouard who piled up 20 kills. The Tigers captured the first set 25-21.
LBC looked to respond in the second set and the Chargers' offense improved smashing eight kills and hitting .278. The Chargers turned to
Elijah Herb and
Kole Horst to lead the offense and they combined to register 26 kills. The Chargers also used some powerful serves to rack up 11 service aces.
Tanner Shertzer had another strong outing as the team's setter, registering 26 assists. The Chargers won the second set 25-17.
After dropping the third set, the Chargers posted 12 kills to win the fourth set 25-20 and tie the match at two sets apiece. In the decisive fifth set, the Chargers got off to a fast start. LBC recorded eight kills, hitting .350 in the set. The Chargers won the fifth set 15-10, securing the 3-2 victory.

Coaching Points
"We might not have played as well as we would have liked in some of the sets but I thought the guys stuck with it, scrapped it out and played better as the match went on," said head coach
Jade Brubaker. "I loved the confidence we showed in the 5th set at the service line to close it out."

The men's volleyball team will conclude their southern road trip by facing Webber International University on Friday, January 14 at 6:00 p.m.
