How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team could not keep pace with Penn St. Harrisburg falling to the Lions by a score of 82-72 on Wednesday, January 19.

The Chargers (7-8 Overall, 4-2 United East) got off to a fast start, with
Jenna Dombach finding
Jade Eshelman for an easy layup on the teams opening possession. After another Eshelman layup, Dombach knocked down a 3-pointer to put the Chargers ahead 7-2.
Alaysha Iwais found her rhythm, scoring the next eight points including hitting a pair of 3-pointers to put the Chargers ahead 15-2.
Sydney Heller added a layup to close out the 15-0 run. After the Penn State Harrisburg (9-4 Overall, 5-1 United East) scored five straight points,
Adalyn Steiner hit a jump shot to make the score 20-7. Heller closed the quarter with a 3-pointer, to put the Chargers ahead by 16 points going to the second quarter.

Eshelman opened the second quarter by hitting a jump shot to put the Chargers ahead 25-7. Later in the quarter, Heller connected from beyond the arc to keep the 18-point advantage. The Lions began to find their offensive rhythm going on an 8-0 run to close within 10 points. Steiner slowed the Harrisburg momentarily with a layup, but the Lions scored the next eight points to pull back within four points. In the closing seconds of the first half, Iwais drained a corner 3-pointer to go back ahead by seven. The Lions hit a 3-pointer just before the buzzer to cut the Chargers lead down to four going into the half.

Harrisburg exploded in the third quarter, opening the quarter on a 22-0 run, taking a 54-37 lead in the process. Dombach and Eshelman each scored to slow the run and bring the Chargers within 13 points. The Lions hit another 3-pointer at the buzzer, leading 61-45 going to the fourth quarter. The Chargers made a run early in the fourth quarter, scoring nine straight points to close back within nine points. LBC could not get any closer, eventually falling by a score of 82-72.

"I couldn't be prouder of our effort and fight tonight, especially competing without Lizzy, Mikayla, and Emma," said head coach
Joy Tharrington. "We saw a lot of growth in key areas and need to keep that same focus going into a crucial game against Gallaudet Saturday."
