How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team rallied to defeat Misericordia by a score of 3-2 on Friday, January 21.
The Chargers (4-0 Overall) built an early lead in the first set, capitalize on several Cougars' errors to jump out to a 7-4 lead. Later in the set,
Elijah Herb slammed down a pair of kills sparking a 3-0 run that put LBC ahead 11-7. Herb led the Chargers with 20 kills. The teams traded points with Misericordia (3-1 Overall) closing back within two points.
Dawson Forney had an answer, firing a kill that started a 4-0 run for LBC. Leading by five, the Chargers were able to hold on for a 25-20 victory in the opening set.
Misercordia found their rhythm in the second and third sets, taking both sets 25-20. The Cougars had three players reach double-digit kills, including Kyle Ganoe who had 12 kills.
LBC needed to win the fourth set to stay alive grabbing an early 4-2 advantage off a kill by
Hunter Davis. After the Cougars battled back to take an 11-10 lead, LBC would win five of the next seven points to surge back in front by two points. The Chargers held the slim advantage late into the set with an Herb kill putting LBC ahead 23-20. Misercordia committed two errors late in the set, helping LBC win the set 25-21. The victory leveled the match at two sets a piece.
The Cougars jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the fifth set. The Chargers answered back with a Forney kill sparking a 3-0 run, allowing LBC to take a 4-3 lead. LBC grabbed control of the set with a 6-0 run that featured kills from Herb, Forney and
Tanner Shertzer. The run put the Chargers ahead 11-5.
Kevin Koch and Herb combined for a block on the games final rally, securing the fifth set victory..

Who's Next
The men's volleyball team will continue play in the Misericordia Tournament. The Chargers will take on Wilkes University and Medaille College on Saturday, January 22 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
