How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team fell for the first time this season, losing in straight sets to Stevenson University on Wednesday, January 26.
The Chargers (6-1 Overall) traded points with the Mustangs early in the first set, with
Elijah Herb smashing the team's first kill of the game. Stevenson (5-3 Overall) used a 3-0 run to grab an 8-5 lead in the set. The Chargers fought back, capitalizing on a couple of Mustang hitting errors to tie the set at 8. LBC could not take the lead, but the Chargers remained in striking distance throughout the set. Trailing 21-17,
Dawson Forney slammed down a kill, sparking a 3-0 run allowing LBC to pull back within a point. The teams traded the final eight points, with the Mustangs holding off for the 25-23 victory.
LBC fell behind early in the second set, with
Kevin Koch hammering a kill to make the score 3-2. The Mustangs responded going on a 3-0 run to take a 6-2. Forney tried to slow Stevenson's momentum with a kill, but the Mustangs stretched their advantage to nine points. Stevenson closed the set on a 6-0 run, taking a 2-0 lead in the match. Stevenson jumped out 7-1 lead early in the third set, seizing the momentum. LBC struggled to cut into the deficit, eventually falling 25-13.
