Women's Volleyball Set for Return to Postseason

After a season away from the United East Conference Playoffs in 2021, the Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team qualified in 2022 thanks to a 3-1 victory over Penn St. Harrisburg on October 29 for the final playoff spot. 
 
The Chargers will take on top-seeded SUNY Morrisville in the United East Semifinals on Friday, November 4 at 5 p.m., while second-seeded Gallaudet will battle third-seeded Penn St. Berks in the other semifinal. The semifinal winners will meet in the United East Final on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Morrisville, N.Y.

In one of the best matches of the United East Conference regular season, Lancaster Bible and SUNY Morrisville went back-and-forth for five sets in Lancaster, before the Mustangs won 17-15 in the final set. 
 
An even match in many ways, Lancaster Bible had 52 kills to SUNY Morrisville's 51, while the Chargers had 18 service aces to the Mustangs' nine. SUNY Morrisville led in blocks, 6-5, while the Chargers held a 72-65 edge in digs. Emily Huppee led the Mustangs with 19 kills, while Siobhan Moore had 39 assists and Kayla Sheasby had 16 digs. Chloe King paced the Chargers with 16 kills, while Morgan Fenstermacher added 14 kills. Emma Shaeffer and Faith Helman each had 20+ assists and Leah Helman had a match-high 26 digs.
 
Series Notes
- Lancaster Bible and SUNY Morrisville have met twice before in the conference tournament, as the Mustangs won 3-0 in the 2016 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Quarterfinals and 3-0 in the 2018 NEAC Final. 
- Lancaster Bible is 3-8 all-time against the Mustangs, but has lost eight straight to SUNY Morrisville
- The Chargers' last win against SUNY Morrisville came on October 17, 2014.

- Lancaster Bible's 18 wins are the most since the team went 21-9 in 2018
- The Chargers have made the conference tournament 10 times in 11 tries since joining the conference prior to the 2011-12 academic year
- Lancaster Bible leads the United East Conference with 1,720 digs this season and also paces the conference in digs per set at 16.38
- Leah Helman leads the conference with 5.20 digs per set and her 515 digs this season not only lead the United East, but are also the 30th-most in NCAA Division III

SUNY Morrisville Notes
-This is the fifth time in six seasons that SUNY Morrisville has won 20 or more matches in a season
-The Mustangs lost to Gallaudet in last season's United East Final, but won the conference championship three consecutive seasons from 2017-19
-SUNY Morrisville leads the United East in hitting percentage at 23.6%, as well as kills with 1,275 (12.03 per set), and is also the top blocking team in the conference with 163 total blocks (1.54 per set)
-Huppee leads the United East with 456 kills, 73 more than the next highest total
-Kada Tillman paces the United East with 0.72 blocks per set
-The Mustangs are 6-2 at home this season and enter the playoffs on a 10-match winning streak
