How it Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team took down Eastern University in straight sets to kick off the tri-match on Saturday, February 19.
The Chargers (11-5 Overall) went on an early 4-0 run with a kill and a service ace from
Hunter Davis, helping LBC build an early 6-2 lead. The Eagles (3-4 Overall) fought back, going on a 4-0 run of their own to grab a three-point lead. The teams traded points throughout the middle portion of the set until
Kole Horst landed a kill to give the Chargers a 17-15 advantage. With a two-point edge late, Horst and Davis helped Lancaster Bible win three of the last four points to take the first set 25-21.
Tanner Shertzer landed a pair of service aces to open the second set, helping LBC grab an early 3-0 lead. Eastern responded with a 5-0 rally to take an early two-point advantage. Both teams began to trade points until a kill from
Caleb Roberts sparked a 4-0 run to put Lancaster Bible ahead by two.
Elijah Herb knocked down back-to-back kills to extend the lead to four points. Herb added two more kills at the end of the set, leading the Chargers to a 25-20 second set victory.
Eastern had the first big run of the third set, winning five straight points to grab a 10-6 lead. Roberts halted the run with a kill, and Davis added a slam to cut the deficit to two. The teams alternated scoring for 11 consecutive points until the Eagles scored back-to-back points, leading 20-16 late. A pair of kills from
Dawson Forney and another from Horst launched a 4-1 rally from LBC, helping to tie the game at 23 points. Horst had the final kill of the set, with the Chargers winning 25-23 and clinching the 3-0 match victory.

How it Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team dropped their second matchup of the day, falling to #9 Southern Virginia University in straight sets.
After defeating Eastern in the middle game of the tri-match, Southern Virginia (9-1 Overall) grabbed an early 8-4 lead in the first set. The Chargers (11-6 Overall) started to rally back using kills from
Dawson Forney and
Kole Horst to go on a 4-1 run and close back within a point. The teams traded points throughout the set with LBC capitalizing on several Knights errors to go on a 3-0 run and tie the first set at 15. The Chargers tied the score four times over the next eight volleys, but they could not capture the lead. Trailing 23-20,
Kole Horst slammed down back-to-back kills to pull LBC back within a point. Southern Virginia held on to win the set 25-23.
The Chargers got off to a much better start in the second set, using kills from Forney and
Caleb Roberts to tie the game at five.
Elijah Herb and Roberts each smoked a service ace, allowing LBC to build a 10-7 lead. The Knights fought back, running off four straight points to recapture a one-point lead in the set. After Forney put the Chargers up 13-12, Southern Virginia won five of the next six points to pull out to a three-point lead. LBC tried to fight back, going on a 4-1 run late in the set capped off by a kill by Davis to close within two points. The Knights fended off the Chargers late rally, winning the set 25-22.
The Knights stormed out to a 4-0 lead to open the third set. Horst smashed a kill to stop the run, and LBC battled back to tie the set at five. LBC tied the set six times, but they could not pull in front. The Knights went on a 5-1 run to seize control of the set. The Chargers could not rally, eventually falling 25-19.
