How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team made quick work of Elizabethtown College, defeating the Blue Jays in straight sets on Wednesday, March 9.

The teams traded the serve early with Elizabethtown (10-7 Overall) holding on to a 7-6 lead. The Chargers (13-7 Overall) surged in front, using two kills from Dawson Forney to take a 10-8 lead. Elijah Herb slammed down back-to-back kills, giving LBC a three-point advantage midway through the set. A 4-1 run capped off with great swing by Kole Horst gave LBC all the momentum, helping the team take a 17-12 lead. Elizabethtown fought back closing within two points, but LBC closed out the first set by winning eight of the last nine points, capped off by two straight service aces from Horst to give the Chargers a 25-16 opening set victory.

The Chargers used a pair of blocks early in the second set to race out to a 6-2 lead. Herb crushed two more kills and Caleb Roberts got into the act, smashing a kill to give LBC a 10-3 lead. Elizabethtown cut into the deficit, closing within three points later in the set. The Chargers stretched their advantage back to seven with a 4-0 run which featured a powerful smash by Hunter Davis. LBC maintained the lead and Forney closed out the set by perfectly placing a kill, giving the Chargers a 2-0 lead in the match.

Elizabethtown needed to win the third set to stay alive, jumping out to an early 7-4 lead in the set. Horst quelled the Blue Jays momentum, firing three consecutive kills to help surge back in front. Later in the set with the Chargers down by one, Davis sparked a run by crushing a thunderous kill set up by a great pass from the Chargers primary setter Tanner Shertzer. LBC went on an 8-0 run, taking a 19-12 lead in the third set.
