How it Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team closed out their regular season, falling to Sacred Heart University by a score of 3-1 on Saturday, April 9.
The Chargers (16-11 Overall) traded points early in the first set, battling to a 4-4 tie. Sacred Heart (10-15 overall) went on a 4-1 run, taking a three-point advantage. Later in the set, LBC battled back, going on a 6-1 run led by kills from
Elijah Herb and
Hunter Davis.
Dawson Forney and Davis combined on a block, putting LBC ahead 15-14. The teams traded points, with the Pioneers ending the set by going on a 6-1 run.
Sacred Heart used a 5-0 run early in the second set to grab momentum. The Chargers fought back, going on a 3-1 run to close back within two points. LBC remained within striking distance throughout the set, but they could not close within two. The Pioneers closed out the set, winning 25-20.
LBC exchanged points in the early portion of the third set, with Davis slamming down a kill to tie the set at eight. The Chargers, sparked by a service ace from
Darien Colburn, went on a 3-0 run taking a 15-12 lead. The Pioneers fought back, cutting the lead down to one twice, but each time Davis hammered down a kill to keep LBC in front. Davis closed out the set with one last kill, giving LBC a 25-22 victory.
The Chargers kept the fourth set close, but Sacred Heart went on a 5-2 run to hold a win the set 25-21, securing the victory in the match.
