How it Happened
The Lancaster Bible College softball team dropped a competitive game to Penn College, falling by a score of 2-0 on Saturday, April 16.
The Chargers (6-19 Overall, 6-11 United East) relied on a great pitching effort from starting pitcher
Alyssa Hamilton to keep Penn College (18-6 Overall, 14-1 United East) off balance. Hamilton had some great support from her defense.
Phoebe Clemens turned a double play in the bottom of the first inning, tagging a runner and then throwing another runner out at first. In the third inning,
Hannah Lieb made a great throw after a double, throwing out the runner trying to advance to third base.
LBC's offense struggled to find their rhythm early in the game, being held to just one hit during the first six innings. Penn College scored in the fourth and sixth innings to build a 2-0 advantage. The Chargers tried to start a rally in the seventh inning, with Lieb hitting a single to center field to lead off the inning. The Chargers could bring her home, falling 2-0.
