How It Happened

The Lancaster Bible College softball team continued its momentum from the weekend, defeating Gallaudet in its first true road game by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday, April 5.

The Chargers (5-12 Overall, 5-4 United East) got on the board first, scoring in the first inning. Alyssa Hamilton reached base on an error and then Sheyenne King hit into a fielder's choice. Phoebe Clemens then lifted a ball into right field that went over the right fielder's head and off the edge of her glove for a triple that allow King to score. Bryanna Hoover rocketed a hard ground ball at the Bison's short stop, allowing Clemens to score and LBC to take a 2-0 lead. LBC tacked on another run in the third inning. With two outs in the inning, Sheyenne King smashed a single up the middle and then stole second base to put herself in scoring position. Clemens smashed a double into center field, scoring King to give LBC a 3-0 lead.

Gallaudet (3-14 Overall, 3-6 United East) closed the gap, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. LBC answered back in the top of the fifth inning. Hamilton led off the inning by hitting double to left field. Sheyenne King then worked a walk to put runners on first and second. Hoover hammered a double into right field, bringing in two runners. The Chargers added an insurance run in the sixth inning. With Noelle Martin on base, Hannah Lieb singled up the middle to put runners on first and second. Hamilton launched a fly ball into center and on a throwing error, Martin scored to extend LBC's advantage to four.

The Bison made one final push in the seventh inning. Gallaudet plated two runs and had two runners on base with two outs in the inning. Starting pitcher Hamilton closed out the game, securing the 6-4 victory.

- Bryanna Hoover went 1-4 with a double, driving in three RBIs in the game

- Phoebe Clemens also was 1-4 with a double, plating one run

How It Happened

The Lancaster Bible College softball team continued rolling after their game one victory, defeating Gallaudet 11-3 in five innings in game two. 

The Chargers (6-12 Overall, 6-4 United East) got their offense going in the second inning. Alyssa Paulson and Chloe King each reached base on fielding errors, putting runners on first and second. Hannah Lieb hammered a single up the middle allowing Paulson to score. Alyssa Hamilton then blasted a single into center field, allowing King to score from second, giving LBC a 2-0 lead. Sheyenne King worked a walk to load the bases, and Phoebe Clemens made the most of the opportunity smoking a double off the center field fence, allowing all three runners to score. Bryanna Hoover closed out the rally with single into center field, allowing Clemens to score and LBC to take a 6-0 lead.

Gallaudet (3-15 Overall, 3-7 United East) plated a run in the bottom of the third inning to cut the deficit down to five. LBC's offense again caught fire in the fifth inning. Chloe King started the rally with a single into center field. After Noelle Martin walked, Alyssa Hamilton capitalized on an error, reaching base and bringing home King. Martin would score on a pass ball that also allowed Hamilton to move over to third base. Sheyenne King laced a single into center field, scoring Hamilton to give LBC a 9-1 lead. Clemens and Hoover each drove in another run, stretching the lead to ten runs.

The Bison needed to score three runs to keep the game alive in the bottom of the fifth inning. Gallaudet managed to plate a pair of runs and put runners on second and third before starting pitcher Martin closed the door with her fourth strikeout of the game. LBC picked up the 11-3 victory.

- Alyssa Hamilton was 3-4 with two doubles, recording two RBIs

Who's Next

The Chargers will travel to face United East foe Penn St. Berks on Friday, April 8 in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
