The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team loss a tough one Wednesday night 3-0 to non-conference opponent Goucher College. The loss moves the Chargers to 5-3-1 overall while Goucher improves to 5-1-3 overall.
Â
How It Happened: It didn't take long for points to come about for the Gophers as they took the lead, 1-0, just three minutes into the game. Despite the early goal, the Chargers would spend much of the first half in Goucher territory moving the ball well and finding their opportunities but would come up short. Much to the credit of the Gopher defense and the freshman goalkeeper making several impressive saves.
Â
Just about 12 minutes into the game the Gophers would find themselves in Charger territory, a volley from the left side of the box into the foot of a Gopher attack who would find the net and the Gophers would take a 2-0 lead early. The Chargers would have several chances of their own but would not find any luck.
Â
Ball movement would define the second half as both teams traded possessions for much of the second half. The Chargers would place several shots on goal including two from
Owen Nell and
Andrew Cox which the crowd thought might go in, but the Goucher goalkeeper would somehow make the save on both. Goucher would score its third and final goal of the night in the 83
rd minute. The Chargers would fall to the Gophers 3-0.
 Â
By the Numbers: Despite the loss, the Chargers would outshoot Goucher 15-9
… Goucher would end the day 5-2 in saves… both teams would have the same amount of corner kicks at five a piece.
Â
Up Next: The Chargers will be off the next few days before traveling up to Morrisville, NY for a conference matchup with the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs on Saturday, October 1
st at 3:30 p.m.
