In the first program meeting between the men's soccer programs of Lancaster Bible and Grove City, the Wolverines escape with a win on a goal with nine seconds left. The Chargers will travel back from Western PA with a record of 1-1 and the Wolverines start their season 2-0.
 
How It Happened: The Chargers and Wolverines would battle back and forth for what seemed to be the majority of the 90 minutes. Both programs tallied six shots for the first half including five of Lancaster Bible's shots on goal. Unfortunately, none were able to find the back of the net for the Chargers. The first half would conclude scoreless.
 
Entering the second half, the Wolverines would tighten their defense, only allowing the Chargers three shots and returning on the offensive end with a total of nine shots. The score would continue to remain 0-0 and would seem to be on its way to a tie, but after a corner kick in the last minute of play, a Wolverines player would be there to knock it in with only a few seconds remaining, ending the game with a 1-0 Wolverines victory.
 
By the Numbers: The Wolverines would hold the advantage in the shot count with 15-9, each team recording five shots on goal… Grove City would slightly edge the Chargers in the save column, 5-4, and the corner kick column, 6-5.
 
Information to Know: The Chargers also started their 2021 season with one win and one loss, but would go on to win or tie their next eight contests.
