The Lancaster Bible College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams opened the 2023 calendar year by competing in the LVC Dutchmen Indoor Meet on Friday, January 13. The Chargers had a solid showing, setting six new school records with lots of personal bests as well.
Track Events
In the women's 55 meters,
Janae Bergey set a new school record with a time of 7.74 and finished 3
rd in the race, qualifying for the finals, where she also finished 3
rd with a time of 7.79.
Ashlynn Tober finished 8
th in the race with a time of 9.21 in her first race of the season. The men's 55 meters saw
Jalen Glasgow finish in 6
th in the prelims with a time of 6.90, which was good enough to qualify for the finals.
Andrew Kidder and
Dustin Frantz also competed, finishing with times of 7.15 and 8.07 respectively.
Elizabeth Lieb finished 4
th overall in the women's 400 meters with a time of 1:09.72, and
Kendal Ream joined her in the top-10 with a time of 1:13.56, earning an 8
th-place finish. In the men's 400 meters,
Joey Benedict represented LBC with a time of 58.45, finishing in 13
th place.
Emma Rohn competed in the women's 800 meters, finishing the race with a time of 3:09.38. The men's 800 meters featured two LBC runners, with
Adam Horning finishing 4
th in a season-best 2:10.73 and
Evan Kline finishing behind him in 5
th with a time of 2:48.94.
Lydia Rendon ran the mile for the Chargers, finishing in 9
th with a time of 7:47.85. In the distance race,
Mitchell Gray set a new school record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:15.43, breaking the record by about 55 seconds, earning him a 3
rd-place finish.
Daniel Lefko finished the race in 9
th place with a time of 10:16.21.
Both teams fielding a team for the 4x400m relay. The women's team, comprised of Lizzy Lieb, Ream,
Janae Bergey and
Kara Huber, finished 2
nd with a time of 4:45.25, while the men's team, comprised of Benedict, Horning,
Jack Dearborn, and Gray, placed 3
rd with a time of 3:53.90.
Field Events
Lucas Durkin participated in the shot put for the Chargers, placing 7
th with a throw of 10.74 meters. Three LBC athletes competed in the long jump, with freshman
Jack Dearborn placing 3
rd with a jump of 6.12 meters, while
Jalen Glasgow and
Andrew Kidder setting personal records with jumps of 5.82 and 5.59 meters, placing 5
th and 7
th respectively. In the women's long jump, newcomer
Kaylisa Montijo placed 2
nd with a jump of 4.88 meters. Dearborn finished 2
nd in the triple jump with a distance of 12.10 meters, and
Kara Huber finished 4
th in the pole vault, clearing a height of 2.60 meters. Freshman
Emma McMurray cleared her first collegiate bar, finishing with a height of 2.00 meters.
Devyn Kintzer took home 1
st place for the Chargers in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.80 meters, and Dearborn and Glasgow finished 3
rd and 5
th with heights of 1.70 and 1.65 meters.
Junior
Leah Bergey competed in the pentathlon event, winning the event with a score of 3,135 points which is 349 more points than her previous personal best and breaking the school record. Along the way, she set a school record in the 55M Hurdles with a time of 8.54, in the high jump with a height of 1.68 meters, and in the long jump with a distance of 5.20 meters.
Logan Burkholder competed in the heptathlon for the Chargers, finishing with a score of 3,413 points and setting a PR in the shot put (9.09 meters).

"This is a great, low key meet for us to get back into competition after the break. We had lots of PRs but still recognize we have areas to improve. We were thankful to have many family and friends out supporting us!"

The Men's & Women's Track & Field teams will travel to Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse to compete in the Moravian University Indoor Meet in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday, January 21
