The Lancaster Bible College track and field teams traveled cross-town to Franklin and Marshall University to compete in the Mini-Dip Meet on Friday, where the Chargers began their 2022-23 indoor season. The Chargers saw five new school records and lots of personal bests in what would be a successful day for the track and field program.

The day was capped off by five different school records being set. Freshman
Janae Bergey set another school record and personal best in the 200-meter race, topping her previous best of 28.75 with a time of 28.62, more than one-tenth of a second better. Four other new names got in on the record-breaking action as well for the Chargers. First year runner
Dana Keller ran a solid mile race, finishing 20
th overall with a time of 6:13.98. Freshman
Joey Benedict set a record in the 300-meter dash, finishing in the top-25 at a time of 39.71.
Michael D'Andrea joined the crew finishing the 600-meter run at a time of 1:50.22. Last but not least, freshman
Jack Dearborn jumped a program best 12.82 meters in the triple jump which helped him finish second overall.

The day was highlighted by two podium finishes from two different student-athletes, including Dearborn's second place finish in the triple jump. Junior
Leah Bergey also finished second in the high jump (1.60 meters), second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.04), and third in long jump (5.04 meters).

As the Chargers continue to train for the NCCAA National Indoor Championships happening on February 10
th and 11
th, the Chargers have seen much improvement over the course of the season as several student-athletes have seen personal records achieved.
