Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Chase Gerber

Chargers Shut Out Lions at Home

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team went head-to-head against United East foe Penn St. Berks at home for a conference matchup on Saturday, shutting the Lions out with a 5-0 lead. The Chargers improve to 6-7-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while the Lions drop to 2-7-3 and 1-2 in conference play.

How It Happened: Despite the pouring rain on Saturday afternoon, the Chargers were ready for their conference matchup with the Lions. The Chargers came out firing, scoring their first goal in the tenth minute as sophomore Ben Nolt fired a shot off the ground which bounced in the top middle of the goal thanks to an assist from senior Sam Glock. Immediately following the goal, Zach Coryell was able to find Nolt again on the left side of the goalkeeper's box to send it into the net, giving the Chargers an early 2-0 lead.

Around the 28th minute the Chargers didn't have any plans to slow down as sophomore as Andrew Cox scored off a free kick in the top right corner of the net, extending the lead to three goals. The Lions tried to even the score with a couple offensive pushes, but the Chargers defense remained steady getting nothing out of it.

The Chargers continued to build themselves a very comfortable lead when the ball bounced off the crossbar in front of the Lions net and Cox dove in for the low header, his second goal of the game. At halftime, the Chargers held a solid 4-0 lead.

Entering the second half with a 4-0 lead, the Chargers didn't show any sign of slowing down. After several attempts to extend the lead, it was senior Marcos Nunez who found the goal off a great pass from junior Devyn Kintzer just ten minutes into the half. The Chargers' defense also came up big, neutralizing any threat the Lions sent.

It was a solid showing all-around for the Chargers, including several different combinations of returners and newcomers. The Chargers closed out their third conference win in a 5-0 manner.
