The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team wasted no time in their last non-conference competition of 2023 winning 4-1 against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon including a four goal second half performance. The Chargers squad improves to 7-8-2 overall and are 3-2 in the United East Conference while the Yellow Jackets drop to 9-6-1 overall.
How It Happened: The Chargers opened the contest applying immediate offensive pressure including several shots on goal in just the first fifteen minutes of play, none would be successful, however. While it was the Chargers who predominantly controlled the first half of play, it was the Yellow Jackets who came away with a 1-0 advantage after a successful penalty kick just two minutes before the half.
With the pressure now on the Chargers, the squad stepped up in a mighty way beginning with a sophomore
Ben Nolt goal at the 67-minute mark. Nolt's goal broke the ice as he assisted senior
Owen Nell just a minute later to give the Chargers their first lead of the game, 2-1. It was a whole ten minutes later when freshman
Micah Nyce decided to get into the mix off an assist from fellow freshman
Nate Siers to bring the game to 3-1. Senior
Kyle Hughes scored the fourth and final goal of the game at the 81-minute mark off another assist from Siers, Hughes' second goal of his career.
The Chargers went on to secure their seventh win of the season, 4-1, after four goals from four different players in the second half.
From the Coach: "We had some good moments throughout the game, but as time went on, we knew we had to stay together if we were going to turn the game around. Ben gave us a spark with great individual skill, and we responded together and were able to finish the game on a good note." – Head Coach Tom Ardt
