The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team hosted the five-seed Seahawks of St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday evening for the United East Quarterfinals, losing 3-0. The Chargers end their 2023 campaign 9-7-2 overall while the Seahawks improve to 7-7-3 overall and advance to the United East Volt Division Semifinals at Penn St. Berks on Tuesday, October 31.
Â
How It Happened: The game began like that of the first contest between the Chargers and the Seahawks as both teams traded sides of the field, lookibut ng for opportunities to score. It was the Seahawks, however, that got things rolling, beginning with their first goal of the game coming from a corner kick at the 14-minute mark. Just over fifteen minutes later the Seahawks added to their lead to give them a 2-0 advantage with fifteen minutes left in the first half. The Chargers didn't give up on the fight putting pressure on the Seahawks' defensive line, earning a free kick just outside the box, unable to convert the Chargers headed to halftime with a 2-0 deficit.
Â
Coming out the second half, the Chargers looked to rally, but the Seahawks were the first to find the scoreboard as Raines scored her second goal of the game to make it 3-0 with thirty minutes left to play. Despite several different strategies and rotations, the Chargers were unable to find a breakdown in the Seahawks' defense, leading to a 3-0 first-round loss for the Chargers.

From the Coach: "
I am disappointed for our team. Our level completely dropped in the month of October, and we just couldn't find our way back. Today we started the game really well and were right where we wanted to be in the game. But obviously giving away gift goals makes it really difficult, and we just found ourselves in too big of a hole. I'm grateful for our group of players, especially those who played their last game today" – Head Coach Jake Warren
Â
