The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team went up against the Gallaudet Bison on the road on Saturday afternoon, earning themselves a 6-2 victory. The Chargers moved up to 5-5-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play, the Bison dropped to 0-10 overall and 0-3 in conference.
Â
How It Happened:Â The Chargers headed down to D.C. to hopefully gain themselves another conference win. The game started off slow as both teams couldn't seem to get anything going offensively. It wasn't until the 38
th minute when the Chargers put themselves on the board as
Nate Siers lofted a pass to the far post for
Owen Shoemaker to tap in. This was Shoemaker's first career goal and Siers' first career assist, granting Chargers a 1-0 lead. The Bison responded back quickly as they scored a goal to make the score 1-1 headed into half.
Â
The second half started, and the Chargers looked to get on the board again as fast as possible. This is exactly what happened when
Ben Nolt placed a penalty kick in the right of the goal after a handball was called in the Bison's box, giving the Chargers back the lead with a lot of time left. The Bison responded a little bit later with a goal of their own to tie the game back up.
Â
Nolt was able to put the Chargers on the board for the second time in the game off another penalty kick around the 76
th minute. From this point forward the game was basically placed in the Chargers' hands as they dominated offensively for the final minutes.
Â
A couple minutes later Marcos Nunez nailed a shot off the crossbar and down, extending the Chargers' lead to 4-2 off a pass from
Sam Glock, giving him his first goal of the season. This goal was followed by a good shot from
Andrew Cox to give the Chargers a feeling of comfort with not much left in the game. The final goal was scored by
Zach Coryell with 3 minutes left, giving him his first goal of his collegiate career.
Â
The Chargers ended up winning the game with a nice 6-2 victory.
