The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer squad lost 3-1 to 18
th nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall in an exciting non-conference match. The Chargers now hold a 5-6-2 record on the year and are 2-1 in the United East. Meanwhile, the Diplomats move up to a 10-1-2 overall record.
How It Happened:
The Diplomats came out hot against the Chargers. In the third minute, goalkeeper
Dylan Zimmerman saved the first shot on goal by Franklin & Marshall, but they were able to follow it up with a goal. The Lancaster Bible defense held strong following the goal, despite pressure from the Diplomats, and
Ben Nolt had a shot of his own on the Chargers' attack. However, in the 17
th minute, Franklin & Marshall was given a penalty kick that was made to bring their lead to 2-0. Again, the Chargers' defense held its own against the Diplomats' attack, not allowing another shot on goal for the remainder of the first half and going into halftime down 2-0.
The Chargers came out in the second half roaring, and in the 50
th minute,
Tommy Elder scored the team's first goal of the game off an opportunity from a free kick. Just ten minutes later, Franklin & Marshall had three shots in the span of a minute, but the Chargers' defense held strong, blocking two while Zimmerman saved the other. In the 76
th minute, the Diplomats struck back with a goal from a free kick opportunity as well extending their lead. The Chargers couldn't claw back and ended up losing against Franklin & Marshall 3-1.
