The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team suffered a tight home loss on Wednesday night, losing to Salisbury 78-72. The Chargers fall to 2-5 on the year, while the Sea Gulls improve to 6-4 overall.
How it Happened: It was a defensive battle early on as the score was just 4-2 Salisbury five minutes in. Sophomore
Nile Austin finished through contact to bring LBC within one, then senior
Grant Sareyka made layups on back-to-back possessions with a foul to put the Chargers up 11-10. Points from
Isaiah Mitchell and
Ty Erisman kept the game tied, then a three from Sareyka gave LBC a three-point lead with about seven minutes to go in the half. Sareyka continued to light up the scoreboard early, along with a three-pointer from
Luke Rumbaugh to give the Chargers their largest lead of the game at 32-28. The Sea Gulls, however, closed the half on an eight-point run to take a 36-32 lead into halftime.
The Chargers struggled early in the second half as Salisbury opened four straight buckets to boost the lead to 12. Rumbaugh and
Daniel King got LBC on the board, then
Seth Beers and Erisman made jumpers to cut the deficit to four. An Erisman three from Sareyka made the score 47-54, but the Sea Gulls widened the gap to 12 over the next two minutes. Free throws down the stretch from Beers and
Connor Storr helped keep the Chargers within striking distance, but several misses from the line held them back as Salisbury left the Horst Athletic Center with a 78-72 victory.
