Fresh off a United East Championship, the Lancaster Bible men's basketball team found out their opponent and location for the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament on Monday afternoon. The team, along with family, friends, and fans all gathered in the Student Center to watch the NCAA Selection Show and see where the Chargers were off to next. The Chargers will head to the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio for a first round matchup with the Violets of New York University. Tip-off is set for 5:10 p.m. on Friday, March 3. This is the first time since the 2017-18 season that the Chargers will be competing in the NCAA tournament.

The Chargers are 20-7, finishing the conference as both the regular season and postseason champions all while being on a 13-game win streak. The Violets, the Chargers' next opponent, finished with an 18-7 overall record and went 7-7 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

The first matchup will happen on Friday, March 3Â at 5:10 p.m. between the Chargers and NYU. The second matchup of the night will be host, Mount Union, taking on Anderson (Ind.) at 7:40 p.m. The winners of both games will move onto the second round which is set to play at 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 4.
