The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis squad returned home from their trip to Hilton Head, S.C. where they competed against several other NCAA Division III schools from across the East Coast. The Chargers dropped a match with Catholic 2-7 on Wednesday, then lost a close 4-5 bout with Johnson & Wales on Thursday. The Chargers drop to 1-7 overall for the year.
 
Catholic, 2-7 Loss
 
Freshman 
Jania Weist was the lone Charger to win their singles match, winning in thrilling fashion with back-to-back 7-6 sets. Teammate 
Sarah Steckbeck went to three sets but lost in the final set 8-10. On the doubles side of the match, the combinations of 
Sierra Hartmann & Weist and 
Alycia Eglauer & Steckbeck battled strong, but fell 6-8 in their matches. The duo of Natalie Hoover and 
Camryn Burkholder managed to end the match with an 8-6 win, the second win of the match for the Chargers.
 
Johnson & Wales, 4-5 Loss
 
Looking to bounce back from a tough loss the day before, the Chargers fought with everything they had, but ended up falling short by just one match. Hartmann started off the evening hot for the Chargers, winning in three sets. Weist, Steckbeck, and Burkholder fell in their singles, but Eglauer and Hoover both picked up decisive victories, tying it at 3-3. The first doubles match went to the Wildcats to give them an edge until the duo of Steckbeck and Eglauer won 8-7 to tie things once again. The Wildcats took the final match to give the Wildcats the edge and ultimately the victory.
