The Lancaster Bible College softball team squared off against the Lions of Albright College on Wednesday, March 22, falling in both games 4-1 and 11-7. The losses move the Chargers to 4-6 overall while the Lions improve to 2-4 overall.
Game One: 4-1, Loss
The Lions were the first to find the scoreboard for the day, scoring two runs in the top of the 2
nd inning and adding a third run in the 5
th inning. The Chargers looked to rally in the bottom of the 6
th inning as senior
Adalyn Steiner hit a single to left, sending
Sarah Davies in. But the Lions stopped any more attempts at a comeback while scoring one more in the top of the 7
th to win 4-1.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had three hits, one run, and one RBI… the Lions had 11 total hits for four runs and two RBIs… the Chargers had four fielding errors…
Alyssa Hamilton,
Hannah Lieb, and Steiner all added a hit with Steiner having an RBI and a walk.
Game Two: 11-7, Loss
How It Happened: Looking to turn things around in the second game, both teams remained scoreless after two innings of play. It wasn't until the top of the 3
rd that the Lions blew the gates open, sending in eight total runs. With the Chargers facing a steep deficit, they responded with one run in the 4
th inning and four more runs in the 5
th inning. The Chargers continued to keep their rally caps on as
Amanda Hoover knocked in
Noelle Martin and Hamilton knocked in Hoover to bring the score to just one run, 8-7. Despite the huge rally from the Chargers, the Lions were too much to handle as they scored three more runs in the 7
th inning, ending the game 11-7.
By the Numbers: The Chargers tallied 12 total hits, scoring seven runs and seven RBIs… the Lions had 20 total hits for 11 runs and seven RBIs as well… the Chargers had four fielding errors to the Lions' single error… Hamilton went 3-3 with two RBIs and one run…
Phoebe Clemens had two hits for two RBIs and two runs…
Alyssa Paulson also had two hits and one RBI on the game.
