Box Score 2 The Lancaster Bible's men's volleyball team hosted both Southern Virginia and King's (Pa.) on Saturday, March 4, and after a loss against Southern Virginia, they bounced back against King's (Pa.) and snapped a four-game losing streak. The Chargers now move to 10-7 on the year. Meanwhile, Southern Virginia improves to 9-2, and King's (Pa.) drops to 17-2 overall and 1-0 in the MAC.
Chargers Can't Overcome the Knights
Southern Virginia: 0-3 I 23-25, 19-25, 10-25
The Chargers had an exciting first set against the Knights that included seven lead changes and 13 tied scores, but ultimately Southern Virginia came out on top and won 25-23. The second set started off very similar to the first as both teams were fighting back and forth. Southern Virginia went on a 6-0, and Lancaster Bible tried to chip away at their deficit following two block assists in a row from Kevin Koch. Ultimately the Knights kept their lead and defeated the Chargers 25-19 in the second set. In the third set, the Chargers were unable to gain their footing, and the Knights went on to win the third and final set 25-10.
Inside the Numbers
- The Chargers were beaten in every team stat category by the Knights except for team blocks which they had 12 of.
- Elijah Herb once again led the Chargers in kills with 11.
- Kevin Koch finished with one solo block and four block assists.
- Christian Herr had 21Â assists for Lancaster Bible.
- Christian Sheaffer led the Knights with 16 kills, three service aces, and added a solo block.
Chargers Close Out Against Monarchs
King's (Pa.): 3-0 I 25-20, 25-22, 25-20
Lancaster Bible was looking to bounce back after their loss just a few hours earlier as they entered the match against King's (Pa.). They came out rolling in the first set behind five kills from Hunter Davis as they won a tight one 25-20. The second set was a terrific set by both teams. There were 13 tied scores and eight lead changes as the Monarchs and Chargers were dealing blows left and right. At the end of the second set, Lancaster Bible closed out scoring four straight and ended the set with a service ace from Christian Herr. The Chargers were looking to end their slate of games in the third set, but the Monarchs would not give up without a fight. The teams had yet another tight set as there were ten tied scores. To close out the set for the Chargers, Elijah Heyworth came in to get his first career service ace and Lancaster Bible won 25-20 to sweep King's (Pa.).
Inside the Numbers:
- Elijah Herb and Hunter Davis each finished with double-digit kills with 12 and 11, respectively.
- Lancaster Bible beat out King's (Pa.) in every team statistic except blocks.
