The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) announced the 2023 All-CSAC Men's Volleyball team and major award winners on Tuesday as the Chargers landed seven conference recognitions. This comes after the Chargers had a remarkable 2023 campaign, finishing 21-10 overall and 6-0 in conference play while sweeping Wilson in the CSACÂ Semifinals and Cairn in the CSACÂ Final to be crowned CSAC champions in their inaugural season with the conference.

At the top of the honors was head coach
Jade Brubaker, who was named the 2023 CSAC Coach of the Year after leading the Chargers to their first CSAC championship and the program's sixth straight season of 16 or more wins (excluding the COVID year). This is Brubaker's first CSAC Coach of the Year, but his fourth overall Coach of the Year award since arriving at Lancaster Bible in 2013. Brubaker previously won the Northeast Athletic Conference (NEAC) Coach of the Year in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Following Coach Brubaker's lead was senior outside hitter
Elijah Herb, who was named the CSAC Player of the Year as well as being named to the CSAC All-Conference First Team. Herb dominated the net, sending in a conference-high 3.74 kills per set while having double-digit kills in 20 of the Chargers' 31 matches this year. Herb's career high also came in the 2023 season as he had 28 kills against Trinity Christian on January 28
th. Herb led the CSAC in points per set with a 4.24 average, which is 17
th overall in all of NCAA Division III. Herb added 25 service aces and 109 digs to end his senior season.

Fellow senior and middle hitter
Hunter Davis was named the CSAC Defensive Player of the Year and was named to CSAC All-Conference First Team. Davis was an absolute force at the net, totaling 102 blocks and averaging 0.96 per set, which led the CSAC and landed him 18
th in NCAA Division III. Davis' season-high and career-high in blocks came in a big five-set win over Randolph-Macon on February 11
th when he tallied 11 total blocks. Davis also contributed on the offensive end, leading the CSAC in hitting percentage at .369 with 194 kills and only 51 errors. He had a second-best 37 service aces for the Chargers.

Also earning CSAC All-Conference First Team nods were freshman setter
Christian Herr and senior libero
Tanner Shertzer. Herr finished his first season with the Chargers totaling a CSAC-best and school record 964 total assists, while adding 31 service aces and 58 kills. His 8.84 assists per set average ranks 27
th in all of NCAA Division III. His 35-assist outing versus Cairn in the championship helped him earn the 2023 CSAC Championship Most Valuable Player. The freshman setter also found himself on defense totaling 127 digs, which is tied for second-best on the team. Meanwhile, Shertzer had a stellar year, manning the back line as he had a total of 264 digs for an average of 2.4 per set, ranking him third in the CSAC. Shertzer had double-digit digs in 13 of the 31 games and four more games with nine digs. Not only was Shertzer top-notch on the floor, but his character with his teammates and opponents helped him be named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship team as well.

The Chargers got two more CSAC All-Conference nods as sophomore right side
Dawson Forney earned All-Conference Second Team and freshman outside hitter
Jake Rotelle was named a CSAC Honorable Mention. Forney was eighth overall in the CSAC in kills with 231 and fourth in blocks with 69. Forney was also fourth overall for the Chargers with 122 digs. Rotelle was right behind Forney, grabbing 157 kills while leading the team in service aces at 41, the most in the CSAC. Rotelle also picked up 127 digs and 16 blocks for the season.

Wilson's Xavier Webber was named the Rookie of the Year while Webber, Cairn's Moses Gamble, and St. Elizabeth's Kodi Peters were named to the All-Conference First Team with the Chargers.
