The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team hosted their final 2023 United East Conference matchup on Friday night against the Lions of Penn St. Harrisburg. The Chargers ended up falling 8-1 after a tough competition. The Chargers fall to 7-11 overall and 3-2 in conference, while the Lions improve to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in conference.
Â
How It Happened: Beginning with the doubles matches, the Chargers were unable to surpass the Lions' attack as they lost all three. The final doubles match of the night proved to be an entertaining one as the combination of
Camryn Burkholder and
Natalie Hoover were just one point away from securing the Chargers first win of the evening, losing 8-7.
Â
On the singles side of the match, the Lions stole the top three matches before senior
Alycia Eglauer won her solo match, 6-3, to give the Chargers their first and only win of the night. Several other Chargers saw tough competition and tight scores, but were unable to pull out the win.
Â
Up Next: The Chargers clinched a spot in the United East Championships being held next Thursday and Friday, April 27 and 28 as the number three spot. Those times are still to be determined.
