Lancaster Bible's men's volleyball team split a doubleheader on their senior night with a sweep against Valley Forge and a tough loss against Marymount (Va.). The Chargers are now 19-10 overall with a perfect 7-0 conference record heading into the playoffs. The Patriots of Valley Forge are now 7-12 with a 3-6 conference record, and the Saints are 20-6 with a 5-3 conference record.

Valley Forge, 3-0 Win
How it Happened:Â Lancaster Bible came into the first match of their senior day starting off strong. In the first set, the Chargers got on a 9-0 run early as they started with a 12-2 lead. Later in the set, the Patriots tried to rally a comeback after a 4-0 run to trail only by seven, but
Elijah Heyworth ended the first set with his third service ace as the Chargers won 25-16. The second set started off similarly for Lancaster Bible. After starting off tied 3-3, the team rallied an 8-0 run to take an 11-3 lead. The Chargers continued to cruise, but Valley Forge pulled together another late 4-0 run. Ultimately, Lancaster Bible pulled out the second set behind
Brenden Ohlemacher-Lonetti's five kills. The Chargers again came out firing in the third set, starting off the set with a 10-1 run.
Vladimir Podgorodniy had a service ace that sent the bench into a frenzy, and the Chargers pulled away with a 16-4 lead. Lancaster Bible finished the third and final set with a score of 25-14.

By the Numbers: Ben Latham led the Chargers with six kills…
Elijah Heyworth added 26 assists and three service aces…
Vladimir Podgorodniy stuffed the stat sheet with three kills, one service ace, six receptions, and three digs… Garrett Olson had five kills and two digs for the Patriots.
Marymount (Va.), 0-3 Loss
How it Happened:Â Entering the second match of their senior night, Lancaster Bible looked to grab one more win before entering the playoffs. In the first set, the Chargers and Saints were trading blows back and forth the entire set.
Elijah Herb put up seven kills in the set that saw 10 tied scores and three lead changes, but at the end of the first set, Marymount (Va.) came out on top with a 25-22 victory. The second set was no less thrilling than the first. After trading points, a monster block from seniors
Hunter Davis and
Elijah Herb sent the Chargers into a 12-9 lead. The set continued to be just as exciting as there were 11 tied scores and six lead changes, but again, the Saints pulled away late in the second set and won 25-22. Lancaster Bible needed a win in the third set if they wanted a chance to come back, and they continued to fight hard early in the set just as always with a small lead of 12-11 in the first half of the set. Christian Herr ace would spark a quick three unanswered by the Chargers as they took a 15-12 lead. The Saints answered with a run of their own to take the lead 18-17. Unfortunately, the Saints pulled away late to finish off the match with a 25-22 victory.
