The Lancaster Bible College Women's Lacrosse team traveled east to Pittsburgh, Pa. to take on the La Roche Redhawks in their second United East Conference game. The Chargers found a consistent offensive effort, winning 16-4. The Chargers improve to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in the United East while the Redhawks fall to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in conference.
How It Happened: Katelynn Perrotta opened the game for the Chargers, scoring just over a minute into the game off an assist from
Kym Kouterick to give the Chargers their first lead of the game. It wasn't much longer when the Redhawks answered, tying the game at 1-1 with 12:52 left in the first period. The Chargers went on to score three more first period goals as Perrotta netted two more and
Abby Donaldson scored one.
After a strong first period, the Chargers opened the second period with Donaldson scoring her second goal of the game, then Perrotta followed it up with her fourth goal off an assist from
Lindsey Weaver. With a 6-1 lead, the Redhawks looked to start chipping away scoring another goal, but the Chargers scored one more before halftime as
Kassandra Horning grabbed her first goal of the game.
The Chargers continued their impressive offensive performance in the second half as Perrotta added two more goals followed by Kouterick's first of the game and Donaldson's third. The Redhawks added one more before the end of the period to make it an 11-3 ball game.
In the fourth period, four different Chargers found the net, with Weaver scoring two goals and Horning scoring one goal at the start of the period. The Redhawks nabbed their last goal of the game, then Perrotta scored her game-high seventh goal and Horning capped it off with her third.
By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 26 times while the Redhawks had 25 shots… the Chargers grabbed six saves and the Redhawks had five… the Chargers managed to win 13 draw controls to the Redhawks' 10… Perrotta had 10 points on the day with seven goals and three assists… Donaldson and Horning both had three goals and one assist… Weaver had two goals and two assists… four players had one goal for the Redhawks.
