The Lancaster Bible College men's and women's track & field teams have been busy over the past few days, competing against some of the nation's top talent in the 2023 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Outdoor Championships held in Columbia, S.C. The event began on Wednesday morning and concluded Friday evening. Several Chargers student-athletes were able to compete in the events, with several experiencing personal and event bests.

Women, 11/19 Teams (21 total points)

The women competed extremely well, with several top-ten finishes including two top-three finishes. Sophomore
Emma Rohn competed in the heptathlon, a seven-event performance over two days. Rohn experienced a huge improvement from last year as she not only increased her score by over 600 points, but she finished seventh overall, earning the team two points for the week. Freshman
Marcy Foltz placed 12
th in the javelin throw with a distance of 29.09-meters, setting a new school record. Senior
Kara Huber placed third overall in the pole vault with a height of 3.05-meters. Freshman
Kaylisa Montijo did not end up competing in her event due to a recent injury. And the most impressive performance from the women was senior
Leah Bergey, who won the 100-meter hurdles event with a lifetime personal record and school record of 14.37 seconds. Begey also finished seventh overall in the 400-meter hurdles and ninth in the high jump.

On the relay side of the meet, the 4x400 team of
Elizabeth Lieb,
Sydney Heller,
Emma Rohn, and
Kara Huber placed eighth overall, earning a point for the Chargers. The 4x100 team of the same girls also finished 10
th overall in the event with a time of 52.54.

Men, 16/21 Teams (9 total points)

Like the women, the men also experienced improvement across the board. Junior
Mitchell Gray began the week finishing third overall in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:06.65.
Adam Horning followed Gray's performance finishing 11
th overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.59 and setting a personal record.

The relay teams for the men also saw great improvement, as the 4x400 team of
Logan Burkholder,
Adam Horning,
Joey Benedict, and
Mitchell Gray finished 12
th overall, setting a new school record with a time of 3:36.37. And for the 4x100-meter (
Logan Burkholder,
Karahn Garfield-Cotton,
Adam Horning, and
Jalen Glasgow) relay, the Chargers finished 6
th overall with a time of 43.86 thanks to a last push from the anchor,
Jalen Glasgow.
