Lancaster Bible College and the Lancaster Bible College Athletic Department are pleased to announce the second class of the Lancaster Bible College Athletics Hall of Honor. The 2023 class includes Whitney (Heise) Whaley ('13), David Green ('15), and Kevin Keltner ('11). The 2023 selections will be honored at the 2023 Lancaster Bible College Athletics Hall of Honor Dinner which will take place on Friday, September 29, 2023 during Lancaster Bible Homecoming Weekend & Family Weekend festivities.
Â
Whaley was a two-sport star for the Chargers from 2009-13, as she helped the Lancaster Bible women's soccer team to its best two seasons in program history, while also setting program records in women's lacrosse. Whaley was part of the two women's soccer teams that went to the NCAA Division III National Tournament in 2011 and 2012 and still holds the program record for goals in a career with 59.
Â
Whaley is also third in program history with 24 assists, and her 142 points are the second-most in program history, just two behind last year's Hall of Honor honoree, Monica (Horning) Lambertson ('15). Thirteen of Heise's 59 career goals were game-winning goals, including her two-goal performance in Lancaster Bible's 2-0 victory over Penn St. Berks in the 2012 North Eastern Athletic Conference Final, that gave the Chargers their first and to this point, only NEAC crown in women's soccer.
Â
While she was scoring goals on the soccer pitch in the fall, Whaley turned her attention to the lacrosse field in the spring and is still the program-leader in goals for a career with 239. Whaley scored 29 or more goals in each of her four seasons, including a career-best 81 during the 2012 campaign. She netted 79 during her senior season in 2013 and her 270 points are also the most in program history.
Â
Whaley was an NCCAA Division II All-American in women's soccer in both 2011 and 2012 and also earned Third Team honors as an NSCAA Women's Soccer Division III Mid-Atlantic Region Team selection. She was also a NEAC Women's Soccer First Team selection in women's soccer in 2011 and 2012 and a NEAC Women's Lacrosse Second Team selection in 2012 and 2013.
Â
David Green was one of the best men's basketball players in program history, as he starred for the Chargers from 1986-1988. Green, who officially graduated from Lancaster Bible in 2015, is third in program history with 1,785 points, as he averaged a program-best 35.7 points per game during his two seasons with the Chargers.
Â
Green is also the program-leader in rebounds with 1,130, as he pulled down his record-breaking amount in just 50 games. Speaking of 50, Green is the only player in program history to score 50 points in a game, which he did three times in his career. He scored a program-record 56 points against Washington Bible on November 13, 1987 and netted an impressive 1,034 points during the 1987-88 season.
Â
Another of Green's historical performances came a season earlier against Washington Bible where he scored 48 points and grabbed 42 rebounds in an overtime victory. Green owns the top 10 highest-scoring games in program history, as well as the top nine highest-rebounding games in program history. In his 50 career collegiate contests, Green scored 40 or more points 18 times.
Â
Like Whaley, Kevin Keltner was a two-sport star for the Chargers during his four seasons in Lancaster. Keltner anchored the defense for the men's soccer program and provided the same leadership and athleticism for the men's basketball team as well from 2007-11. Keltner was a member of the 2009 NCCAA East Region Championship team, as he was not only a key factor in the Chargers' strong defense, but also added five goals on the offensive end.
Â
Keltner was named an NCCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-American in both 2009 and 2010 and also earned NCCAA East Region First Team honors in those same seasons. He finished his soccer career with 10 goals and seven assists, while helping to turn around the men's soccer program.
Â
On the court, Keltner was just as good, as he helped the Chargers to the 2011 NCCAA East Region Championship during his senior season. In both 2010 and 2011 he earned NCCAA Division II Men's Basketball All-American honors, and was named to the NCCAA East Region First Team in both season as well.
Â
Keltner is the program's all-time leader in assists with 475 and is tied for sixth in program history with 151 steals. He is one of 25 players to score 1,000 points and he also pulled down 421 rebounds during his career.
Â
This year's honorees join the inaugural class from last year that included Pete Beers, Monica (Horning) Lambertson ('15), Aubrey (Folger) Bird ('16), Lauren (Heliger) Turner ('13), and Sam Rempel ('01).
