The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team opened their 2023 season with a convincing 4-0 win over the Rosemont Ravens behind Ream's three goals. The Chargers improve to 1-0 overall to start the season for the second year in the row, while the Ravens fall to 0-1.
How It Happened: It took exactly 36 seconds for the Chargers to find the scoreboard for the first time in 2023. Freshman
Isabella Eufemia pushed a through ball up the right side to senior forward
Kendal Ream, who put the ball in the back of the net, putting the Chargers up 1-0 a minute into the game.
It wouldn't be much later that a beautiful corner from senior
Naomi Ewing found the head of transfer sophomore
Leah Perreault to send it to the left upper-90 of the goal. With the Chargers ahead 2-0, the offense didn't seem to lessen the offensive pressure, sending attack after attack resulting in 16 total shots for the game.
One of those attacks struck gold as Eufemia again placed the ball in the middle of the field for Ream to grab and score, her second of the game and a 3-0 Charger lead 21 minutes into the game. The defense also stepped up big time, limiting the Ravens to just six shots, four in the first half.
Entering the second half, the Ravens made it significantly harder for the Chargers to get going offensively. However, Ream proceeded to take a pass in the middle of the field, dodge a couple defenders, and knock an arcing shot over the goalkeeper's head right off the eighteen. This would mark her third of the game and third goal of the season, tying her 2022 goal total.
Between their offensive explosiveness and defensive prowess, the Chargers look primed for a strong start to the 2023 season as they have two more games in just five days.
By the Numbers: The Chargers outshot the Ravens 16-6… both goalkeepers registered three saves each… the Chargers nabbed six total corner kicks to the Ravens' three… Ream had three goals… Perreault scored one goal… Eufemia tallied two assists.
Information to Know: This was Ream's first career hat trick for Lancaster Bible College…. This is the Chargers' fifth game scoring four or more goals since the start of the 2022 season and marks their third win in a row at home.
Up Next: The Chargers have a quick turnaround as they host Immaculata on the Donald H. Funk Field at the Willis & Martha Herr Stadium at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 3.
