Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Ben James

Chargers Cruise by Lions for First Conference Win

Lancaster Bible College's women's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 victory over Penn St. Abington on the road. The Chargers are now 6-1 on the year and 1-0 in the conference. On the other hand, the Lions fall to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the United East.

How It Happened: The Chargers put pressure on nearly right away after sophomore Leah Perreault got the team's first shot on goal that was saved. After Lancaster Bible had a few shots off-target, Perreault had a try at another one, and this time, came out with the first goal for the squad. Kendal Ream continued to apply pressure, getting a shot on goal and even hitting the post on one, but in the 39th minute, Ream was able to find her teammate Isabella Eufemia for the second Chargers goal heading into halftime.

Entering the second half, the Chargers had a full head of steam, and Ream was able to place the ball to the bottom left corner to put the team up 3-0. Again, in the 55th minute, Ream put her second ball in the back of the net, giving Lancaster Bible a 4-0 lead. The Lions answered with a shot of their own, but goalkeeper Kari Ann Mecke came out with the save. The teams traded some shots back and forth late in the second half, but ultimately, the Chargers came out on top with four goals to none.

By the Numbers:
- Kendal Ream led the Chargers with two goals, an assist, and seven shots
- Isabella Eufemia and Leah Perreault each scored as well
- Kari Ann Mecke finished the game with two saves playing in just two-thirds of the game
- Madison McDowell had both of her two shots on goal for Penn St. Abington
