Lancaster Bible College's Women's Soccer team traveled to Cabrini University and grabbed a convincing 3-0 win. The Chargers now jump up to an impressive 7-1 record overall and remain 1-0 in the United East after the non-conference win. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers fall to an overall record of 1-5-1.
How It Happened: The Chargers hit the ground running to open the Tuesday night match, and
Leah Perreault was able to connect with
Isabella Eufemia who scored in just the fifth minute. A quarter into the game, the Cavaliers responded with pressure of their own with a shot that was saved by the Chargers' goalkeeper
Kari Ann Mecke. Eufemia answered again with a shot on goal that was saved and immediately had another shot that was just high of the net. Late in the first half, Eufemia got her third shot on goal that was saved again, and despite a shot from Cabrini in the closing seconds, Lancaster Bible remained ahead 1-0.
Cabrini came into the second half looking to capitalize on their opportunities and had two free kicks that were in range for a shot, but Mecke saved both to keep her clean sheet. In the 58
th minute, the Chargers took advantage of a transition opportunity as
Naomi Ewing found an open
Kendal Ream bolting down the right sideline, and she was able to get by the defense and finish the goal to bring Lancaster Bible to a 2-0 lead. The Chargers' defense held their own throughout the second half, and with less than ten minutes remaining, Eufemia had an opportunity to score, was fouled in the box, and drilled the penalty kick to get her second goal of the match. At the final whistle, it was Lancaster Bible on top of Cabrini, three to none.
