The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team faced the Seahawks at home for their second conference game of the year and last homecoming game of the week on Saturday afternoon, earning themselves a 1-0 victory. The Chargers improve to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in United East Conference play, while the Seahawks fall to 3-4-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
How It Happened: The Chargers entered their game against the Seahawks looking to get their second conference win of the season. Both teams had no real opportunities coming from either side for a goal in the first half. As the ball went back and forth for the majority of the 45 minutes, the best opportunity came for the Seahawks as one of their players got a breakaway, but the Chargers' goalie Kari Ann Mecke made a great save to hold off the Seahawks from scoring. The half ended scoreless for both teams.
Despite the slow offensive first half, the Chargers came out firing. Only six minutes into the half, Isabella Eufemia was able to find offensive threat Kendal Ream for a shot placed in the left side of the goal, giving the Chargers an early 1-0 lead.
The Chargers would spend the rest of the second half defending the 1-0 lead, as the Seahawks tried to get a goal for themselves. Despite a couple chances, the Seahawks didn't really get any good looks to tie up the score. The Chargers were able to keep the lead they built at the start of the second as the Chargers dominated the defensive front for yet another shutout.Â
The Chargers held off the Seahawks to secure the 1-0 conference win.
By the Numbers: The Chargers led their opponents in shots 9-5, with seven of those being on goal... the Chargers tallied two saves compared to the Seahawks' six saves... the Chargers had nine corners and the Seahawks had two...
