Chargers Shut Out Highlanders at Home

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team hosted the Highlanders of Cairn University on Wednesday night in front of their home crowd, carrying out a 4-0 shutout and their third win of the 2023 season. The Chargers are now 3-5-1 overall while the Highlanders drop to 2-5-2 on the year.

How It Happened: The Chargers started off their match against Cairn hungry. The Chargers applied pressure immediately with multiple offensive attacks that caught the Highlanders off guard. After a couple good runs and two corners, the Chargers were able to capitalize as Ben Nolt placed a cross straight to Devyn Kintzer for a header to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead only 12 minutes in.

Despite the Chargers' quick first strike, they still didn't let up with a couple more offensive attacks. The Highlanders, however, were able to settle into their own offensive game. Both teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the half, but no goals came from either side. The half ended with the Chargers up 1-0.

The Chargers were not ready to settle with their one goal lead, as right from the jump Andrew Cox dribbled the ball up the right side of the field and placed a hard shot that found the bottom right corner of the net. This extended the Chargers lead to 2-0 merely seconds into the start of the second half.

For the next 35 or so minutes, both teams would split control of the ball with the Highlanders putting a couple close calls on net. It wasn't until the Chargers broke the silence again as Kintzer found Owen Nell for a goal, moving the Chargers lead to a comfortable 3-0 lead. The Chargers were still not done as they decided to tack on another goal, with Cox scoring one last goal off a pass from Owen Shoemaker.

The Chargers held on to this lead for the remainder of the game, pulling out a convincing 4-0 win against the Highlanders.
