Box Score The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team hit the road for the first time in 2024, suffering a 3-1 loss to #18 Misericordia University on Tuesday night. The Chargers fall to 3-2 overall while the Cougars improve to 5-1 overall.

How it Happened:
Misericordia jumped out to an early lead, but kills from
Jordan Yoder and
DJ Omogrosso kept the Chargers within four. The deficit stayed around that mark for most of the set with several Chargers picking up kills, but the Cougars wrapped up set one with a late 5-1 run to win 25-17.

It was all Chargers in the second set as
Jake Rotelle sparked a 5-0 start, then that lead grew to 13-4 when Rotelle landed another kill. Misericordia went point-for-point with LBC in the middle of the set, but
Nicholas Marion landed a service ace to make it a 20-11 game. An ace from
Christian Herr and a kill from
Dawson Forney helped the Chargers take the set 25-13 and tie the match up at 1-1.

The third set started out tight with Yoder and
Ben Latham finding the ground for kills, then the Cougars opened up a six-point lead at 13-7. A slew of Cougar errors and a pair of kills from Rotelle brought LBC back to tie the set at 21 all, then the teams traded points to send it to extra rallies. Rotelle had another kill to tie it at 26-26, but Misericordia finished out the set 28-26 to put the Chargers on the brink.

With their backs to the wall, the Chargers started up 3-1 with kills from Rotelle, Herr and Forney. Misericordia gained a slight lead, but LBC jumped back in front with two kills from Yoder to go up 13-10. The Cougars fought back to take a four-point lead, then surged to the end to wrap up a 25-20 set win and close out the Chargers in four sets.

The Chargers are now 2-1 against Misericordia, suffering their first lost to the Cougars tonight. Lancaster Bible had three players record 10+ kills (Yoder, Rotelle, Forney) for the first time this season. Misericordia was the first of five consecutive ranked opponents slated for the Chargers over the next two weeks, with Vassar, Stevens, Marymount (Va.) and Cal Lutheran on the horizon.
