Â
How it Happened:
Jenna Dombach got a layup to go 10 seconds in for the first score, then hit a three just minutes later to tie it up at 7-7. Several different Gallaudet players led a big 12-point scoring run, then back-to-back buckets from
Raven Hunter and a jumper from
Alaysha Iwais helped the Chargers close the first quarter with eight straight points to trail by just four after ten minutes.
Â
The Bison built up another lead through the first half of quarter number two, then a 3-pointer from
Isabella Eufemia and layups from Hunter and Dombach quickly brought the game back to a tie at 26-26. LBC traded buckets with Gallaudet as
Natalie Wenger kept the game tied with a layup, then a big 3-pointer from
Shelby Gard put the Chargers up three late in the half. Gallaudet got another quick bucket to give the Chargers a 31-30 lead at halftime.
Â
It was Hunter that started the scoring for the Chargers in the second half to put them up three, then a few quick scores from the Bison saw LBC fall behind 37-33. The third quarter remained close as Iwais hit a three to cut the deficit to two, then the Bison matched to go up four. A layup from Hunter made it a two-point game, then Wenger converted a Bison turnover to send the game into the fourth quarter tied up at 44.
Â
The teams battled early in the fourth as Hunter and
Rachel Nolt connected on jumpers to keep the score knotted up. Hunter gave the Chargers a 52-50 lead on a layup to force a Gallaudet timeout, then the Bison surged ahead despite baskets from Hunter and Dombach. It became a fouling game as the Chargers desperately tried to convert, but the Bison wrapped up the game 68-61 and handed LBC a crushing home loss.
