Women's Basketball Face Tough Competition at Maryland Eastern Shore

The Chargers dropped a mid-week exhibition game against Division I Maryland Eastern Shore Wednesday night with a final score of 99-37. Jenna Dombach led the Chargers with 10 points. The Chargers now have two home games in the next week as they return to conference play. Penn St. Abington will make the trip to Lancaster on Saturday, January 6th for a 3:00 pm start time. 

How it Happened: Isabella Eufemia opened the scoring action with a jumper 30 seconds in to give the Chargers the 2-0 lead. The Hawks answered with back-to-back layups. Rachel Nolt added two points before the Hawks went on a 14-point run. Shelby Gard and Isabella Eufemia each notched a three-pointer before the close of the quarter. The Chargers were down 27-10 to start the second quarter until Jenna Dombach found Raven Hunter for two. Later in the quarter, Hunter returned the favor when she found Dombach for a three to bring the score to 34-17. Hunter was the last on the court to find a basket in the first half. She secured a jumper in the final minute to bring the score to 46-19 at the half. 

The Hawks put in nine points before Hunter scored on a free throw just over three minutes into the half. Back-to-back layups for Nolt and Dombach brought the score to 61-24m before the Hawks put in a layup followed by another layup from Hunter. Faith Hammond added two in the closing minutes of the quarter. Maryland Eastern Shore led Lancaster Bible 79-28 going into the final ten minutes. Dombach added five while Hunter added two in the fourth. Natalie Wenger scored with just under a minute left to bring the final score to 99-37 in favor of the Hawks. 

By the Numbers:  
- Jenna Dombach had 10 points and Raven Hunter added nine and five rebounds 
- Ariana Seawell led the Hawks with 16 points and 10 rebounds 

Information to Know: This was the second Division I exhibition game for the Chargers this season. On December 14th, Lancaster Bible traveled to Buies Creek, N.C. to face Campbell University. The Chargers lost that game 99-28.
