Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Hunter Gerber

Chargers Fall to Falcons, 3-0

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team hosted the Messiah Falcons on Thursday night for their last non-conference match of the 2024 season falling 3-0. The Chargers move to 3-7-1 overall and remain 1-2 in the United East Conference while the Falcons improve to 6-5-1 overall and 1-0 in the MAC.

How It Happened: It was just the eighth minute when the Falcons scored their first goal to take an early 1-0 lead. The Chargers managed to keep the Falcons opportunities to a minimum in the first half but despite their defensive efforts the lead grew to 2-0 midway through the half. With all the attention going to keeping the Falcons off the goal, the Chargers were able to garner just one shot in the first half.

The second half was no different as the visitors kept consistent with their offensive effort. Sensing a bit of fatigue from the Chargers, the Falcons tallied 10 total shots in the second half but goalkeeper Luke Macchione grabbed five saves including some bigtime plays in the box. The Falcons added one more goal in the 56th minute to grow the lead to 3-0.

The Chargers ended up having limited scoring chances as several potential runs were thwarted with an aggressive backline for the Falcons. They went on to win 3-0.

By the Numbers: The Chargers were outshot 14-3… the Falcons had more corner kicks 6-1… the Chargers tallied six saves for the game… Patrick Lee had two goals and Josh Bratager had one goal for the Falcons.

Up Next: The Chargers continue their conference slate with two games on the road beginning at Wilson on Saturday, October 12 followed by Penn St. Abington on Wednesday, October 16.
