The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team picked up a United East Conference road win on Saturday evening at the Wilson Phoenix, 3-0. The Chargers improve to 4-7-1 overall and 2-2 in conference while the Ravens fall to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
How It Happened: The two teams battled it out for the majority of the first half trading possessions and scoring opportunities. Despite the ball switching sides of the field several times, it was the Chargers who put several shots on goal. It wasn't until the 37
th minute when junior
Ben Nolt got the first goal of the game to put the Chargers ahead 1-0. The Chargers continued to apply offensive pressure but weren't able to find the net again in the first half.
Continuing to trade possession, the Chargers found their second goal of the game in the 60
th minute as fellow
Andrew Cox scored off an assist from
Owen Shoemaker. The Chargers continued to push the pace offensively especially as fresh legs began to be rotated in which saw freshman
Kyle Durkin score his first goal of his career. The Chargers went on to win 3-0.
By the Numbers: The Chargers outshot the home team 22-8 with 14 of those shots being on target… the Phoenix had 11 saves to the Chargers six saves… the Chargers tallied eight corner kicks… Nolt, Cox, and Durkin all scored for the Chargers… Shoemaker and Cox added an assist.
