The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team hosted United East Conference foe Penn College on Saturday afternoon falling 2-1. The Chargers fall to 4-5-4 overall and 3-3 in conference while the Wildcats improve to 12-0-4 overall and 5-0-1 in conference.
How It Happened: The game got off to a hot start as the Chargers junior forward
Janae Bergey scored just under ten minutes into the game to take the lead 1-0. It wasn't long lived however as the Wildcats scored on a penalty kick in the 15
th minute after a foul in the box. The Wildcats kept the momentum firing off five total shots on goal but none turned up successful. Â The Chargers found a big stop from freshman goalkeeper
Carissa Mulder as she saved the Wildcats' second penalty kick of the half. Despite the stop, the Wildcats managed to score again just before the end of the half to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
With both teams realizing the importance of today's conference game, the teams traded offensive possessions with several good scoring opportunities but neither team was able to convert as the Wildcats went on to win 2-1.
From the Coach: "Our team battled so hard today and came close to getting a result against a really good Penn team," said Head Coach
Jake Warren.
"We're a young team trying to learn how to win big games, and we'll keep pushing forward and growing."
