The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team traveled to St. Mary's City, Md. on Saturday to compete with United East foe St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawks losing 2-0. The Chargers move to 2-4-4 overall and 1-2 in conference while the Seahawks improve to 11-1-2 overall and 3-0 in conference.
How It Happened: The Chargers found themselves in an early deficit after the Seahawks scored just before the 20-minute mark to make it 1-0. Despite the deficit, the two teams continued to battle for possession consistently trading shots. The Chargers got a good look just before halftime but couldn't convert.
An early push from the Chargers to start the second half secured a corner kick but nothing came of it as the Seahawks made a push of their own sending several shots on goal. The Seahawks didn't score until the 69
th minute as the Seahawks grew their lead to 2-0. The deficit proved to be too much for the Chargers as they continued to vie for possession unable to get on the scoreboard.
From the Coach: "We battled all over the field tonight," said Head Coach
Jake Warren.
"We competed every minute against a good team but couldn't get enough going to capitalize in the attack."
By the Numbers: The Chargers were outshot 16-5 and lost in corner kicks 9-1… the Chargers tallied six saves on the game… Mia McKenzie and Makayla Marvray scored for the Seahawks.
Up Next: The Chargers return home next Saturday, October 12 for a new conference matchup with Rosemont at 4:00 p.m.
