The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team three-game winning streak came to an end Friday night at the hands of crosstown foe Franklin and Marshall, 64-51. The Chargers couldn't overcome a 23-20 halftime deficit as they move to 3-2 overall while the Diplomats improve to 4-1 overall.
How It Happened: The Chargers tied the game twice in the first quarter before taking a 11-9 lead with 1:45 to go as sophomore
Isabella Eufemia hit the go ahead three-pointer. The lead only lasted a minute as the Diplomats responded with three of their own points to claim a 12-11 lead before the buzzer.
Another Chargers three, this time from senior
Serene Calderon, gave the Chargers their biggest lead of the game at 16-12 with seven minutes left in the half but the Diplomats proved too much as they reclaimed the lead 18-16 and kept it for the remainder of the half.
Coming out of the half, the Diplomats took their biggest lead of the game early 27-20. The deficit continued to grow for the Chargers as the Diplomats went on a 10-2 run to claim a 15-point lead. The Chargers weren't finished yet though finishing the third quarter on a 11-4 run to close the gap 43-36. Facing fatigue and the Diplomats hot shooting, the Chargers couldn't get over the double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter as the Diplomats went on to win 64-51.
By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 30-percent from the field and 25-percent from the three… they were 72-percent (18-25) from the free throw line… the Diplomats were 38-percent from the field, 13-percent from three, and 16-percent from the line… the Diplomats forced 22 turnovers while the Chargers outrebounded the home team 46-39… Calderon had a game high 17 points and nine rebounds…
Rachel Nolt added 12 points and 13 rebounds… Lizzie Neville and Kennedy Wilburn had 12 points each for the Diplomats.
