Men's Basketball Hunter Gerber

Men’s Basketball Primed for Volt Division Semifinal

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team has found their momentum in the second half of the season, finishing the second semester 11-1 overall and securing the second overall seed in the Volt Division. The Chargers will look to carry that momentum into Monday night, February 19 as they host the Seahawks of St. Mary's (Md.) at 7:00 p.m. for the United East Volt Division Semifinal.

Season in Review: Despite starting just 3-7 in the first ten games this season, the Chargers have quickly turned things around, finishing the regular season 16-9 overall. In conference play, the Chargers tallied a 10-2 record with their two losses coming from a first semester matchup with St. Mary's (Md.) and a loss at Penn St. Harrisburg. The Chargers are led by three players in double-figures including standout Grant Sareyka (21.5 ppg), freshman Connor Storr (12 ppg), and senior point guard Seth Beers (11 ppg).

Look Back at Past Matchups with St. Mary's (Md.): Just like on the Women's Basketball side, the matchups between the Chargers and Seahawks have been a battle both times. Playing at the Seahawks on December 2 and just the Chargers' second conference game of the season, the Seahawks earned an 81-79 victory. In the loss, the Chargers were out-rebounded by 23 rebounds and shot just 36-percent from the field. Returning to the Horst Athletic Center on January 30, the Chargers won 100-95, giving them an opportunity for second place which they'd later secure. In the win, the Chargers forced 20 turnovers and shot 46-percent on the night.

Both contests between the two seasoned squads have been down to the wire. "We are playing against a very tough and physical St. Mary's team," noted Head Coach Jon Mack. "We need to play extremely well to extend our season."
