Beers, Storr Pace Chargers Past Lions

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team won the first of their last two regular season games Wednesday night over the Lions of Penn State Berks, 109-73. With four players in double-digits and several others close behind, the Chargers secured their ninth win in the United East and 15th win of the season improving to 15-9 overall. The Lions drop to 3-18 overall and 2-9 in the conference.

How It Happened: The Chargers got out to a fast start winning 12-3 just under five minutes into the game. Several steals and a few offensive rebounds from junior Maureon Tisdale-Couch paced the Chargers early. The Lions clawed their way back to take the lead for the first time, 14-12. The two teams continued to trade baskets with the Lions keeping their lead until freshman Jasir Johnson nailed a three-pointer to tie the game at 19-19. Johnson's three-pointer sparked an offensive run for the Chargers as fellow freshman Connor Storr scored the next five points while senior Isaiah Mitchell converted a steal and layup to make it a ten-point swing, 26-19. Add in back-to-back triples from Seth Beers and some offensive production from sophomore Luke Rumbaugh and the Chargers went to halftime with a 55-35 lead.

The Lions didn't back down though, scoring six early points. It was Storr, Beers and two layups from graduate student Ty Erisman that managed to keep the Chargers twenty-point lead. With just ten minutes to go, threes from Johnson and Beers pushed the Chargers to a thirty-plus point lead. Reaching as much as a 41-point lead on the evening after another three from freshman Trey Grube, the Chargers went on to secure the victory 109-73.
