The Lancaster Bible College Softball team picked up the sweep against Valley Forge on Tuesday afternoon. The Chargers improve to 6-7 overall while the Patriots move to 6-6 overall. Â

Game One, 9-7 WinÂ

How It Happened:Â Scoring started early, as the Patriots posted two runs in the top of the first inning. The Chargers responded quickly with four runs of their own as Alyssa Hamilton stole home, KariAnn Mecke picked up an RBI single and Anna Rinaldi picked up a two-run double. Valley Forge put up two more in the second and two in the top of the fourth to take the lead 6-4.Â
The Chargers added another pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie it up before Sheyenne King picked up a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth followed by Phoebe Clemens knocking her in to take the lead back, 9-6. The Patriots looked to rally when Caitlyn Fisher drove in a run with two outs in the top of the seventh, but their efforts were not enough as the Chargers secured the final out.Â

By the Numbers: The Chargers tallied 14 hits for nine runs and eight RBIs… the Patriots had six hits for seven runs and six RBIs… King went 4-4 with three runs and two RBIs… Rinaldi had two hits with one run and two RBIs... Three other Chargers recorded two hits… Noelle Martin had the win on the mound striking out four batters… Fisher led the Patriots with three hits and Wakeman and Medio both drove in two runs each.Â

Game Two, 14-0 Win (5 innings)Â

How It Happened:Â The Chargers started game two hot, scoring five runs in the first inning, with four different Chargers earning RBIs and they never looked back. Despite two hits in the bottom of the second, the Patriots held the Chargers from scoring.Â
In the bottom of the third inning, the Chargers earned seven hits and put three additional runners on base after two fielding errors by the Patriots and a walk. Eight of those runners were able to cross the plate to add runs to the board. Alyssa Hamilton drove in two runs before Phoebe Clemens cleared the bases with an inside-the-park grand slam. Alyssa Paulson followed it up with her own inside-the-park solo home run. Carleigh Cleland singled to third base to drive in Amanda Hoover to bring the score to 13-0.Â
The final run was scored in the bottom of the fourth when Sheyenne King singled to start the inning then made her way around the bases and scored. Alyssa Hamilton picked up the win on the mound after pitching all five innings, facing 18 batters while giving up two hits.Â

By the Numbers: The Chargers finished with 16 hits for 14 runs and 13 RBIs... the Patriots recorded only two hits... the Patriots had four errors while the Chargers had one error and three stolen bases... Paulson went 4-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored... Hamilton picked up two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored... Laura Medio completed both games on the mound for the Patriots.Â
