The Lancaster Bible College Softball team traveled to Wilkes for a doubleheader and came out empty-handed against the non-conference opponent. Wilkes won the first game 10-6 and took the second one 10-2 in five innings. The Chargers now drop to 6-9 overall and will play their first conference game on Wednesday, March 27. Meanwhile, the Colonels jump to 7-3 this year.

Game 1, L 6-10
How It Happened:Â The Chargers had the bats rolling early, and
KariAnn Mecke hit a single that resulted in three runs in the first inning. Unfortunately, Wilkes followed up with a total of 10 runs between the first three innings, seven coming from the second alone. However, earlier in the third inning, the Chargers were making their effort at a comeback.
Riley Danko doubled to send
Sheyenne King home, and Mecke followed with another RBI to get Danko home as well. Trailing 5-10 going into the top of the fourth, King hit a sacrifice fly that brought one more run to the scoreboard. However, while the Chargers kept Wilkes scoreless in the final four innings, they were unable to close the gap and lost 10-6.

Game 2, L 2-10
How It Happened:Â Alyssa Hamilton wasted no time drilling one out of the park with the first at-bat of the game. The Colonels responded with another massive second inning, posting five runs. Hamilton continued her impressive game thus far with an RBI in the third inning to cut the deficit to 2-5. Wilkes tallied another run in the bottom of the third and, after holding the Chargers to zero in the fourth, added four runs to take a 9-2 lead. The Chargers failed to respond and fell 10-2 to the Colonels.
