The Lancaster Bible College Softball team competed in their first United East Conference doubleheader this Saturday, losing both at Penn St. Berks 0-7 and 3-7. The Chargers drop to 6-11 overall and 0-2 in conference while Berks improves to 9-8 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Game One, 0-7 Loss
How It Happened: It was all Lions in game one as they scored seven through six innings while holding the Chargers to just two hits. Lions pitcher Paige Brightwell struck out 13 total batters while the offense knocked 12 total hits.
Alyssa Hamilton and
Carleigh Cleland were the lone Chargers to notch a hit.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had just two hits, one walk, and 13 strikeouts… Berks had 12 hits, seven runs, and five RBIs…
Alyssa Hamilton gave up 12 hits while the Chargers defense tallied four errors.
Game Two, 3-7 Loss
How It Happened: Looking to rebound, the Lions got out ahead after one inning of play bringing in four runs. It was in the third inning that the Chargers got one run to go as
Sheyenne King hit a double to left center bringing in Cleland. While the Lions got three more to go push the lead to 7-1, the Chargers one last rally came up short after
Phoebe Clemens triple brough in King and Hamilton ending the game 3-7.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had five hits for three runs and three RBIs… Berks grabbed 11 hits for seven runs and seven RBIs… King and Clemens had two hits each while Clemens notched two RBIs… Cleland had a hit as well… several Lions had two hits each.
